This year GoPro introduced a new design for the GoPro Hero 8 Black and this means that some existing gear is no longer compatible and this is the case for many gimbals on the market currently. With today’s action cameras including the new GoPro Hero 8 Black and its HyperSmooth 2.0 gimbals are not as important as they were in the past. For everyday filming you can get extremely smooth footage with just the built-In electronic image stabilization, however, there are some instances when you still need a gimbal. For example, EIS needs a good amount of light for it to work at peak performance, in low light situations or dark interior you would still get better stabilization with a gimbal.
