In this video, we are taking a closer look at the Hero 8 Black ND filter set from Freewell Gear. This year Freewell had to get a little bit creative when designing ND Filters for the Hero 8 because GoPro decided to make the protective lens cover non-removable. This meant you could not replace it with an ND filter and the lens lip was too small for a popover style ND filter. Freewell decided to create a metal vlogging style case for the Hero 8 Black in order to connect their ND filters.

This metal case that is included with the ND filter set is really sharp, it has a nice gunmetal grey color to it and also feature 3 cold shoes for adding accessories such as microphones and lights. When the Hero 8 Black is mounted in the case the ND filters snap on top of the lens, it has a nice secure connection so no worries of it giggling loose. This set up also makes it easy to swap out ND filters when needed. The ND filter kit includes an ND4, ND8, ND16, and a polarizer filter, all filters are packaged nicely in a metal case to keep them protected when packed in a camera bag. The other added benefit is when using this case with the PL filter it provides you with an extra layer of protection for the Hero 8’s non-removable lens.
