There are many rumors swirling around that we could possibly see a new Mavic Mini 2 in November. It has been about one year since the original Mavic Mini was released by DJI and it is definitely due for a refresh. As for a released date, there is no official announcement from DJI but it is rumored to be released in the first half of November. Some of the rumored specs of the Mavic Mini 2 are as follows.

• 4K Resolution
• Higher Bitrate
• Same 249g Weight
• New Prop Design
• USB-C
• Small Price Increase.

Again those are just rumored specs, there is nothing concrete that has leaked and until the Mavic Mini 2 is officially launched by DJI take everything with a grain of salt. I have put together a list of things that I would like to see added to the refreshed Mavic Mini 2 some of my wish list items will most likely never happen as DJI does need to maintain a separation of the Mavic Air 2 and the Mini.

Mavic Mini 2 – My Wishlist

• Retain 249g weight
• Ocusync 2.0 or at very least a more solid WiFi connection
• 4K 30 or 60 FPS
• A higher bit rate would be nice
• New USB-C interface for charging the drone.
• New remote similar to what comes with the Mavic Air 2
• Active Track and updated intelligent flight modes
• Quick-release props
• Flying with just a smartphone

I think there are 3 groups of consumers that the Mavic Mini really appeals too and they are as follows.

1. 249 Grams: 249 is the magic number in many countries where regulation and rules start to kick in. So for many that 249g weight is the absolute most important reason for purchasing a Mavic Mini. This also goes for those that wish to travel with a drone, in many countries including Canada, your only option as a tourist is to fly a drone under 250g
2. Compact & Travel Friendly: I think the next group of consumers are those that like to travel with a small and compact drone. They are not necessarily concerned about the 249g weight, they are more interested in a drone that is small and compact yet can still capture quality videos and photos.
3. Affordably Priced: The last group of consumers that I think the Mavic Mini appeals to is the budget drone consumer. New pilots just testing the water may not want to spend a lot on a new drone while they learn. The Mavic Mini is a great starter drone that is affordably priced for most people.

In closing, I just want to mention that you should never base any purchase decisions on rumors if you are in the market for a drone today, there are many great options available. Waiting on a rumored drone can be disappointing if it does not materialize.
