The stabilization technology that GoPro has built into its latest cameras is called HyperSmooth. The HyperSmooth technology was first introduced with the Hero 7 Black, last year with the Hero 8 Black, HyperSmooth 2.o was introduced. This year with the release of the Hero 9 Black GoPro has introduced its latest stabilization technology with Hypersmooth 3.0. Last year when we did a side-by-side comparison of the Hero 7 Back and Hero 8 Black the results were quite dramatic. This year when we performed stabilization comparisons of the Hero 9 Black versus the Hero 8 black the results were not quite as dramatic but subtle improvements were still visible. The biggest change in stabilization is the ability to maintain a level horizon (in camera) which can have a huge impact on overall stabilization.
