Here is my unboxing and setup video of the new GoPro Max. The GoPro Max is GoPro’s newest 360 camera and replaced the GoPro Fusion. This new 360 Camera from GoPro has addressed many of the problems users had with the original Fusion camera and puts GoPro back in the game when it comes to creating 360 content. The factor has had a complete overhaul, it is now smaller and includes a nice LCD screen for previewing media and changing settings. GoPro has also ditched the dual memory cards slots for just one and the camera now includes lens caps and even some clear lens domes if you going to be filming in situations where the camera may bet bumped around a bit.
GoPro has dramatically improved the workflow which was one of the biggest complaints of the Fusion. All stitching is now done on camera and you no longer need to stitch it in Fusion Studio on a PC or Mac. Stitching 360 videos from the GoPro Fusion was slow, cumbersome and buggy which caused many people to abandon it for other easier to use 360 cameras such as the Insta360 One X. With the newly revamped GoPro app, the workflow is easy yet gives you all the tools needed to be creative with your 360 videos. You can now fully edit and work with your 360 files right on your smartphone or iPad, share it on social media or save it to your Photos app.
GoPro has also introduced a new “Hero” mode which essentially turns the 360 camera into a traditional GoPro. You can film flat 16:9 video from either lens and gives you a nice wide view, this is perfect for vlogging. The only downfall is it only records in a max resolution of 1440.
